How to say 'hello' in Korean:

1a 'anyon haseyo': the standard informal greeting.

Use this to say hello to people that you already know.

1b 'anyon ha-shim-nee-ka': the standard formal greeting.

Use this to say hello to your boss, school principal, older people and people you don't know.

1c 'anyong': the informal greeting.

Use this for greeting (and saying goodbye) to children and close friends.

1d 'yoh-bo-seyo': the telephone greeting.

Use this when answering the phone or when entering a dark room (equivalent to 'Is anyone there?').
